The University City Scholars, one of the unit organizations of Federation of Accredited and Extracurricular Student Organizations (FAESO), marked their second general assembly last November 30, 2020, with the theme, “Sail On, Isda!”, via Zoom Meetings in the light of the pandemic. The said assembly gathered the Oro Scholars in the University to loosen up and to know more about the UCS organization.
Hannah Hormiguera, the President of the UCS, highlighted that the organization for the City Scholars of USTP shall not only manifest academic excellence but also embody the sense of active social involvement towards the betterment of Cagayan De Oro City along with their goal, to be excellent in the academe world and be fully engaged in the community we live in.
Started as Bonafide Oro Scholars Society (BOSS) in 2018, the University City Scholars became a fully accredited organization in 2019 and has gained experience in events such as Project Amigo, an event that dwells and promotes mental health awareness. Moreover, they have Febigayan 2020, supported Andam-Higala, participated in various activities outside the school like Scholar’s Camp and VOX: Cagayan De Oro Young Leaders Parliament that depict their advocacy.

Academics and leadership at home is a whole new challenge for students today. Some may be doing well, and some may be struggling. Along with the theme, “Sail on, Isda!”, the scholars have their own reasons to keep swimming and thrive.
